We are in urgent need of foster homes. We have received many mother cats with large litters already and more are surely on their way. These feline families are in need of a temporary place to stay until they are old enough for adoption. Watching these babies grow into strong, playful, and curious individuals is an experience you will never forget.

We are also in need of foster homes for shy, neglected, and abused dogs in need of tlc and socialization. Give them a gentle hand to help them learn to trust again. We get many orphaned kittens that also need careful attention and love.If you feel you may be able to open your heart and home to one of our special animal in need, please contact the Feline Program Manager at felines.bchs@gmail.com or stop by the shelter to fill out a Foster Home Application!

Throughout the day, we are asked several types of questions about the Humane Society, its staff, and the services we provide. For you Titans of Trivia, here are some new factoids to add to your knowledge banks:

The Humane society has served Bartholomew County since 1966.

We handle just under 1300 animals annually.

To prepare an animal for adoptions costs an average of $153 for a dog and around $114 for a cat.

Our adoptions fee is only $95 — What a bargain!

Our regular volunteers include home schooled students, high school project students; senior, retired, and working adults, developmentally challenged adults.

We have a staff of 2 full-time and 3 part-time employees to care for over 100 animals daily.

We are expanding by building a new shelter!
